Viewing Words as a Life Track

Have you ever thought of your words as a track for your life? Matthew 12:37 says, "For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned." Our words are like a life track. That's why we must speak words that build up and not tear down. Our words will determine whether we live a blessed life or a life void of blessing.

In the beginning, God spoke, and what he said became. We have been given authority to speak the Word of God. His words are spirit, life and health to our flesh. Satan wants us to grumble and complain, but all that does is negate the Word of God. It short circuits, cuts off and completely stops what we're believing Him for. Psalm 141:3 says, "Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips." That should be our prayer. We can't trick God with our words, because as it's said, "Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks." We can, however, line our words up with His and watch what He says come to pass.

The truth is that we all say things we regret. They slip out, and we want to retract them as soon as we recognize their potential to hurt or destroy. But it's like putting a letter in a mailbox and the next day trying to retrieve it. It doesn't quite work, does it? None of us is perfect; we all slip up, but we can all get back on track. Next time you do, just get back in line right where you got out. Don't speak against what you're believing for; only speak God's truth.

Our words are our life track, so let's choose ones that build, not tear down.
