Getting on the Path with Jesus
Matthew 4:18-20(NLT)
18 One day as Jesus was walking along the shore of the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers-Simon, also called Peter, and Andrew-throwing a net into the water, for they fished for a living. 19 Jesus called out to them, "Come, follow Me, and I will show you how to fish for people!" 20 And they left their nets at once and followed Him.
When Jesus said, "Come, follow Me," He was telling these men, "Get on the same path as Me." Jesus has a certain path He wants for each of our lives. Each of them might be different, but we're all called to get on the path with Him. He has called, and all we have to do is follow!
During my life in ministry, I've found myself to be on different paths at different seasons. I've been on the path of having small children, the path of getting them through high school and sports, the path of the college life, the path of believing for the right mates for my children and oh, so many more! Wow! Yet, while on all these paths, I still must remain on the path to follow Him. What is He calling me to do for Him during these different seasons of my life as "Mom?"God is so rich in His mercy, He allows us to do both! He doesn't condemn us for wanting to be a good (no, great!) Mom. We have disciples (children) who are following us, so we'd better be following Him!
But it's not even just our own children; it's also the people God has given us, those sitting in our churches every week! So often we ask, "What am I supposed to be doing?" when Jesus has said, "Come, follow Me." Get on the same path with Him, and He will show you how to fish for people! Just look ahead; He is there! Follow Him, and He'll show you the way...today and tomorrow!
Psalm 32:8 (NLT) says, "I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you." Life is too short for us to not enjoy it! Life is too precious for us not bring others along with us!
Jesus, I'm coming! I'm running toward You!
