Safe in the Father's Hands

One of the sweetest memories I have about my earthly Daddy is that he loved to hold hands. Even as an adult, he would reach over and hold my hand just like he did when I was a child. I loved it! One time our parents took us on a mission trip to Guadalajara. Our whole family slept in cots in a room together, and one night I slept next to Daddy. I'll never forget that as we lay down, he took my hand and held it until I fell asleep. When we woke up in the morning, he was still holding my hand. I felt safe in my Daddy's hands.

A few days before Daddy passed away, he and my mother came over for dinner. After we ate, we sat in the family room to visit. As I was sitting with my hand on the chair, Daddy came over and placed his hand on mine. He held it while I visited with my mother. I'll never forget the loving touch of my Daddy's hand. That was the last time he ever held my hand. My earthly Daddy is in Heaven and I miss him, but I know that I am not alone.  There is Someone else who is holding my hand every day of my life, and that's my heavenly father. I hope you know He holds your hand too.

There are many wonderful Scriptures that talk about our Heavenly Father's hands.

1.  Your Heavenly Father is holding your hand. (Psalm 73:23)
2.  The Father guides us with His hand. (Psalm 139:10) We can trust Him to guide us through life-through decisions, conflicts, and trials.
3.  The Father molds and shapes us with His hand. (Isaiah 64:8) He is always working to improve us, molding and making us.
4.  The Father's hand sustains us. (Psalm 18:35) Sustain means to hold up, to support, to encourage, and to keep from falling or sinking. When you lie down at night thinking you can't make it another day, remember that God will sustain you.
5.  The Father's hand is a saving hand. (Psalm 138:7) You may be in a trial now that seems overwhelming, but you can know that God's hand is not too short to help you and rescue you.
6.  The Father's hand is an open hand. (Psalm 145:16) His hand is open to you-take hold of it today and you will always feel safe in his hands.
